Mother Nurture: Open Lab Day
November 14, 2021
10am-3pm
After the molting comes the regeneration of a new sinews and skin. Join us for a day of experiments in making materials and images as we prepare Mother Nurture for our Grieving/Storytelling Circle on Sunday December 5. We will make natural dyes to soak yarn in, we will harvest kombucha mothers that are growing in the gallery so that they can be turned into kombucha leather, we will print images and text onto previously dried kombucha leather, and weave the entangled webs that compose the body of Mother Nurture. Come do and think and feel with us as we weave the cycles of life back into the circles of death, until the molting begins yet again.
The CIIS course, Social, Political, and Decolonizing Ecologies, led by Prof. Charlotte Saenz-Boldt will be taking place in the lap of Mother Nurture from 11am-12noon on this day. You can join us in-person in the Pro Arts Gallery at 11am, as we take the virtual class on a tour of Mother Nurture.
